MY LPD GOALS

1. being proactive
2. developing myself as a leader and person
3. improve myself

Paradigms

My experience during the game:
When the teacher handed out the playcards I had no idea what to expect, but I knew that it was not just a normal game. For me, the most frustrating part was not being able to speak with your fellow students because it made it even harder to play the game. when someone did something wrong, you cant tell them how they should play it so that was very frustrating. When we had to change tables, I realised that something was different because my way of playing and understanding the game was different to the others. It was frustrating and funny at the same time because my fellow students looked at me like ''are you stupid???''

What did I learned and what can I put into a wider context?:
I think this exercise was about how to adjust youself to situations when you can't communicate with eachother but still have to make it work. Just like IBMS, you get to work with different people all over the world with different languages, habits and rules. I experienced this before during the business game, eventhough you have different ideas, you still need to work together.

Can I apply this in different contexts and situations?:
Usually, I dont have any problems with getting along with people I just met. But sometimes it can be hard because of the different cultures, maybe their culture is not that open as mine. In Holland we say what we think and that is normal for us but that isn't for everyone. People with different backgrounds can be shocked by the way we communicate, other people can interpreate it as an insult instead of a joke. You can prevent this conflicts by being carefull with saying everything you think. From my opinion, it is better to observe the situation and the person so you know how ''far'' you can go. You can adjust youself to the other to be able to get along with eachother, which is a good thing.

Refelections and take-aways LPD Block 1

Before I chose IBMS, I visited some introduction days. They told us about a new subject/program called LPD. I was really enthusiastic about it because it is really important in not only developing youself as a leader but also as a person. To be honest, I did not really know what to expect the first class.. will it only be about learning some skills to become a good leader? or will it be about how to react to some situations etc. Eventually, I noticed that it was a mix of all which I really liked.

What I will take with me for the rest of my life from block 1, is the reactive and proactive part. I never thought about the importance of it and how much it will help you not only in your carreer but also in your day to day life. It really helped me to react different in some situations and that there can always be a way.

We have also done a business game, just like the LPD classes, I didnt know what to expect and I think that was the best part of it because we werent able to prepare ourselves wich can be good. What I learned about the business game is the importance of working together. Just like in real life, you have to work together if you want to deliver a good project, or maybe when you have an argument.

The LPD lessons were also helpfull for my learningstyle. We had to make two mindmaps, at the beginning I did not thought that it would be helpfull for me but it was! When I studied for my summatives, I made a few mindmaps which helped me to connect the subjects and apply it.

From mine opnion, LPD is really helpfull and I'm really enthusiastic about what is coming, it gives you a different insight in life but also in your carreer.
